Summer’s delight.
Ice cream time in smudgekin’s world,
that’s a toddler’s chocolate delight.
Chocolately face and fingers too,
lick by lick by lick
by drip by drip by drip.
Slow salivating yumminess
then nose-in-cone finale.
Mama says “look at me!” Click.
Then clean-up time.

Written for Quadrille Monday at dVerse where Mish is hosting and asks us to use the word “smudge” or a form of the word in our poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. Photo from Inside Source.
This is so cute and fun!

Doesn’t get easier with age, in many cases: In most instances, I request a spoon for my cone. It’s either that, or trim the moustache (not bloody likely!)

“Smudgekin” ….such a fun spin on the word but I did laugh out loud at “nose-in-cone finale”. Good one.

Love the way you make ‘smudges’ seem like art, Lillian! Other uninformed mothers might smack them for the ‘mess’

😋 The repetition of lick and drip really works. “nose-in-cone finale” is the kind of description that is going to ruin my diet! 😆

Happy days! Messy but delightful. My almost-four-year-old still gets an ice cream goatee, so I let him enjoy it 🙂

This is so very cute and maybe the main reason ice cream is sold in cones.
