Seasonal Symphony by Lindsey Ein

Standing in the dappled shadows surrounded by silence
sudden sounds startled my senses.
Somewhere the master had raised the baton.
Sweet birdsongs joined chattering squirrels in playful harmony
soaring skyward.
The earthy crunch of fallen leaves underfoot shocked in
percussive surprise.
A mellifluous stream babbled over smooth stones
singing a song to soothe the soul.
Sounds of silence surround me no longer
as I surrender to the sublime synchronicity of
this seasonal symphony.

Delighted to post this poem by Lindsey for all to see. I love the sounds in this poem: birdsongs, chattering squirrels, playful harmony, earthy crunch, percussive surprise, a stream babbling singing a song, a seasonal symphony. AND when I read it aloud, all the “s” words add to the sounds. Beautifully written!

A pleasure meeting Lindsey today ~ and good to know I’m not alone in my penchant for reading poems first ~ followed by ‘listening’ as I read them aloud. Feels like a “once more, with feeling” moment ~ Great hosting today, Lillian. Love how you make us feel comfortable.
