You are my sunrise
as are friends, family,
birthdays, holiday celebrations,
graduation festivities
hot fragrant coffee
smiles from passersby
crescendos in concertos
hugs and kisses
toddlers stomping in puddles
charitable donations
springtime flowers
random acts of kindness.
Sunshine, a constant,
even behind the clouds.

Written for Quadrille Monday at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. I’m tending the pub and asking folks to include the word “sunrise” in their poem of exactly 44 words, sans title.
In all the chaos across our world, the sun still rises every day, even when it resides behind the darkest of clouds. For me, that is representative of hope – the idea that love and goodness are always present – even in the stormiest of times. Sunrise photo taken in Provincetown, MA – at the very tip of Cape Cod.

A lovely list quadrille of gratefulness, Lill, and not one of the things on it has a price tag.

There’s an old saying: best things in life are free. I used to say that to my mom and she’d jokingly say back, “but having money sure helps a lot!” Glad you enjoyed.

I know that saying, it’s in the Beatle’s song, ‘Money (That;s What I Want)’.

Many things to be grateful for, Lill–things that bring the light. Beautiful photo, too.

Lillian, this is beautiful. Just what I needed tonight. I’ve had a couple of rather blue days. Grief sneaks up in the hands of people I love, in words that burrow deep, in that moment, in the middle of a daydream, when I wake up and think, no, that will never happen. He’s gone.
So, I’m grateful for you tonight, hoping that gratitude won’t open that door, at least not tonight. Mary

The things that really matter in life that also sit behind the clouds when we don’t pay attention, graet reminder that your list is what brings the metaphor to life.
