Picasso’s blue period.
Shades of cobalt,
streaks of cerulean,
periwinkle pops.
Hues of humanity
brushed on canvas.
New Orleans blues
strut the streets.
Brassy sounds.
Bourbon crowds.
Indigo girl hopscotches
hair flying, double-dutches.
Skip-to-my-lou
my darling denim clad child.
Love you always,
true blue.

Written for Quadrille Monday at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. I’m hosting today and asking folks to include the word “indigo” in their poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. Image made on Bing Create.

“Indigo girl hopscotches
hair flying, double-dutches.
Skip-to-my-lou
my darling denim clad child.
Love you always,
true blue.”
Of course my favorite part.

Thanks, Bjorn. My first attempt was so far on the dark side….I deleted it all again and went with this one. A smile for the day…..lord knows we need it these days.

Thanks, Kim! Somehow, I don’t write “profound” poetry as many do here….but I do enjoy the writing. I’m a home poet at heart 🙂

I wrote a poem once about what I wanted my “celebration of life” to be.
“New Orleans blues strut the streets. Brassy sounds. Bourbon crowds” sounds so much like my poem I had to giggle a little. I even went so far as to name the instruments. I love your poem, Lillian.
