Promises glibly made.-
Lies repeated so many times,
swallowed by the gullible.
Round up the vermin,
ship ‘em all out!
January 6th insurrectionists?
Patriots all.
Guard rails gone,
Project 2025 ready to go.
Convicted felon,
self-described pussy grabber.
If elected,
God help us all.

Quadrille (poem of exactly 44 words sans title) that includes a form of the word “promise” – today’s prompt at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe.

I promise to be gravely disappointed if that vermin wins.

I love the image you chose to go with the poem. Not trying to be a smart aleck but you’ve enumerated his BEST attributes. It goes downhill from there.

Yikes. And we all hope that he does not win.

We’ll be in Barcelona on election day (already voted) and board the ship on November 7. In all likelihood we’ll find out the final results either on the ship or in Barcelona….hoping we’ll be popping a bottle of champagne on our cabin’s deck rather than contemplating jumping overboard!

I am truly afraid of what will happen if things go the wrong way next week!

Let’s just hope and pray things go well! Even then, this country could erupt with lawsuits, people trying to negate the results etc. What a mess! Hoping hoping hoping we turn the page.

He will win… alas this time I am sure. But I cannot vote so that is what it is.

Sadly, too timely. I still have faith our country will not elect a racist convicted felon to be president. It just cannot be!

I cannot believe the votes will go so close. Such a tragedy. And why was he voted out when Biden came in. Still the incorrigible trickster and in it for himself not all those ordinary folk who vote for him. Your poem and the pumpkin shows the despait that even this election is close is scary.
