An Alternate Reality

Take my hand. Travel with me
through starry starry nights
to a new place not yet discovered.
Not yet befouled by humanity,
but still palpable in its existence.

Happiness, serenity, joy,
jubilation, celebration, exuberance
good works and caring,
and most importantly,
optimism shall color this world.

All peoples dwelling here
shall live within the light.
None shall be unseen, unheard,
besmirched, assigned to the shadows.
If I were to paint this place . . .

it would be spills of pastels
and primary hues
beginning at the bottom of the canvas
and rising until they meld
into a crescendo of love.

If you take my hand this day,
this hour
this moment
to embark upon this journey,
might others join our endeavor?

Can it only be achieved on a small scale,
two people within a cocoon?

Or can we gather together
creative spirits of master artists
from centuries past?
Might they join today’s artists
and somehow . . .

paint our dreams into a reality . . .
into a place of life
and joy and hope
for you and me . . .
and for the many.

I really love this, we need some way of finding such a place where we may find togetherness… and of course, I hear Vincent by Don McLean playing

It was so wonderful to hear you read this today, Lill. Of course the opening evokes Van Gogh, and I imagine you both yearning.

Beautifully written, if only we could find this place of peace.

I love your utopian universe. We really do need a paradigm shift! Perhaps they should create video games that show these values instead of shooting and killing and destroying everything in sight.

Oh my heart this is GORGEOUS! 😀 I especially admire; “it would be spills of pastels and primary hues beginning at the bottom of the canvas and rising until they meld into a crescendo of love.” Yes! 💖💖

I love that you dare to dream and say these things and that you are resolute in your hopefulness and sense of possibility. This song of optimism can – and does – act as midwife to optimism. Thank you Lillian.

You built your “a new place not yet discovered” very well. Now cross our fingers and wish on one of Gogh’s stars. Run hide if it disappoints.

I love the direct address in this poem, Lill; I feel like you are inviting me to join you in your alternate reality, and what a lovely place to go! I love the way you paint it in
    ‘…spills of pastels
    and primary hues
beginning at the bottom of the canvas
    and rising until they meld
    into a crescendo of love’.

    good works and caring,
    and most importantly,
    optimism shall color this world.

The ambience provides the incentive to take in all the goodness and enhances the good feelings. Love it Lillian!
