Coral flamboyance,
long legs and necks, all squawking.
Flamingo mosh pit.
Written for Tuesday Poetics at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. Today Lisa provides a choice of three specific prompts, all with reference to animals. I chose the option to write about an animal, considering its nature.
A group of flamingoes is called a flamboyance. There is a metaphorical allusion here….might be more clear if flamingoes were orange….or if while madly cackling and squawking they wore red baseball hats.
Hehehe perfect! 🧡

Lillian, I liked it before reading your afterword, but with who you were thinking of in my mind, it became hilarious. Thanks for the amusing haiku!

Yep…..it’s been quite a day….watching coverage….34 felony charges. I think he was expecting misdemeanors…and actually, don’t think he ever expected ever to be arrested. All I can say is ….. finally!

I can’t believe they released him after that many felony charges! Any other human being would almost guaranteed be locked up until their next hearing. I mean, the man has his own private jet and is a clear flight risk.

Glad you enjoyed. Somehow, just felt like doing a little satire here….how I wish they could “throw the book at him” and we’d never have to see his name in print again!

It surely is a media circus so very apropot. I think he’ll be court-hopping for awhile. I did hear that he had the choice of whether to appear by Zoom (or equiv) or in person and he soaks up the attention and so of course chose in person. Also, I believe *he* told *them* when he’d be arriving. After working for the courts for so many years it is very galling to see court procedure bent so egregiously for his sorry azz.

We’ve seen the flamboyent of these gawking squawking long-necked birds at both the national zoo in DC (literally) and every year at the San Diego Zoo. They create a cacophony of noise for sure!!! And, although I’ve never been at a big concert or a mosh pit, but the most pit does evidently have that raucous sound and feel to it!

I have been to some huge concerts. Never felt the need to enter the mosh pits

Your haiku is short and sweet with a sting in its tail. Lill! The ‘historic day’ was a clue – and then I read the notes after the haiku! I really like the phrase ‘coral flamboyance’ and I couldn’t help smiling at the thought of a flamingo mosh pit.

I liked the connection to a mosh pit. The video was fun. When not looking at it, only listening, it sounded like frogs.

Unfair comparison. Flamingos have no defects, the human mob, well, you have to dig around to find anything that isn’t a defect.
