Provincetown Palette

Savor Cape Cod sunsets.
Some seasoned with paprika,
cayenne, tumeric red-oranges.

Others like Monet’s garden scenes
bloom in pale lavender and rose pinks,
scattered through buttercup yellow.

Hot summer days wane at oceans’ edge.
Luminescent full moon slowly rises,
cools down dark ebony sky.

Written for Quadrille Monday at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. Today Lisa asks us to use the word “season” or a form of the word in our poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. Photos taken over the years at our annual two weeks in Provincetown, MA, at the very tip of Cape Cod

The sunset colors are simply beautiful. How stunning to see that full moon rising at ocean’s edge.

IT is indeed a beautiful place. For the first time in the 20+ years we’ve been going there. we will be there two weeks in early May this year. First spring time in Ptown. We’ve been there winter, fall and summer. The sky colors and low/high tides are always different.

Thank you. In my early knitting days I dyed natural yarns in boiling water seasoned with walnuts shells (turned deep brown); cumin (turned golden); and others too that I can’t think of. 🙂

I love how you related the spices and their colors to the colors of nature. I don’t think I have ever read that before! The paprika was what got me! Nice!

How wonderful to have such a place to go, where you can just “be”. I was going to use seasonings too, but changed up. Your sensual rendering is magnificent.

Paprika came to mind (and tongue) for me today, too, Lil.
This quite simply takes my breath away.

I like the idea of sunsets of spices. Painting the sky with seasonings.
