Marking October Fourteen

There is a pain too raw.
Too personal to write down.
Wrapped in the shrouds of death
it came too near,
but for angels along the way.

Pain of illness, threat of death,
most astute tutors of life.
Love every mundane moment,
cherish them as a gift.
Celebrate every dawn.

Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. Today Ingrid asks us to consider pain and how we can come out on the other side of it stronger. Photo of dawn from one of our many trips.

I agree that there are certain types of grief and pain too difficult to write down. But I like your conclusion that ‘Pain of illness, threat of death,
most astute tutors of life.’ And that we must treasure every moment. Beautifully moving!

This is beautifully, beautifully poignant Lillian! I agree that certain pains prove to be the “most astute tutors of life,” and at the same time am so grateful that we as humans are gifted with the ability to endure .. to overcome and rise above it all. Thank goodness for angels who rescue us along the way! 💝💝

Lillian, that image, to me, is proof in the existence of God. Your message, to cherish every moment of life, is one to stay grounded in.

Let’s hear it for those angels and spirit guides. I have certainly given them a workout in my almost eight decades. To cherish dawn’s early light, to hum with the birdsong, to celebrate the tiny victories, to count one’s blessings–you bet.

There is indeed pain that cannot be written. Like sacred secret script, almost cherished. I love “celebrate every dawn”.

The trick is to remember to appreciate. There are many times life can overwhelm that necessary part of the process. You have to work at acknowledging the good with the bad.
