Out of the Ashes . . .

So you say
only birds gather
to crow and cackle,
perched on wires
their party line?

Yet I see
humans wearing blinders
yes-we-believing
crowing the party line,
trying to keep their perch.

My hope?
I sense winds shifting,
see phoenix regain strength
poised to regenerate
and soar again in truth.

What a great metaphor you have here! I love it. By the way, I am old enough to remember the party line telephone at our house!

Me too! From 1970 to 1974 we lived in rural Iowa and not only had a party-line, we also had the last 5-digit phone numbers in the country. My parents would try to call us from Chicago and get the tone on their phone that they misdialed. They’d have to contact the operator who would tell them repeatedly that they were missing a number…until she finally somehow put the call through and we would get it! Crazy, huh?

Well….I’ve always dreamed of soaring….just lifting up my feet from the floor and floating around the room.
