was like being an upholstered couch
situated in the middle of a room.
Catching rays of sun on good days
from lovely curtained panes,
and then
unexpectedly
being shredded on the wall side,
used like a cat’s scratching post.
Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets, where Laura hosts Tuesday Poetics.

your poem carries such impact with that imagery – felt every line – and thank you for joining in after your long break

To be living with someone is both the rays of sun and the days when all is shredded to pieces… great post.

Living with her would have been very difficult and painful, never knowing which personality you were going to encounter. Heart wrenching.
