Telltale Signs

Dandelion wisps
tangled in hair,
cooing to butterflies
fingers she flutters.
Turning she runs
ready for flight,
clambers on swing
wishing she might.

Higher she shouts
Daddy push higher!
Smiling, he does,
thankful for fairies.
Their magical gift
a changeling,
the child he adores.

How sweet – the image matches your words – “fairies” indeed!

Yes, that image is worthy of a thousand poems. Usually a changeling is a bad thing; nice to see the other side of the coin.

As Glenn said, it’s lovely to see you take a different spin on the meaning of changeling. Beautiful photo too.
The whole poem is just a joy to read.

Well, a changeling is a fairy baby, so I’d expect a bit of ethereal beauty

How sweet! Poems of little girls are always particularly poignant to me because I’ve always wanted one but have been blessed with one son instead.

This poem reminds me of my daughter when she was little, Lill! It’s totally adorable. I’m most definitely thankful for fairies.
