Trash art.
But not to me.
Paint brush body
bottle opener arms.
Metal disk eyes
always open.
Clock innard springs
‘neath blooming heart.
Curved metal strip
forever smile.
They say
art speaks to you.
Pull yourself together,
use what you’ve got.
Uniquely assembled,
bloom where you are.
Wear a perky hat
eyes wide open,
smile at the world
and they’ll smile back.
I’m hosting Tuesday Poetics at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets – which means I create the prompt. And today’s prompt is “Come hang with me!” Choose something hanging in your house (on a wall, from a bookcase, in your closet, etc) and write a poem about it! I’ve asked that folks include a photo so we can see what they’re writing about. This lovely piece of “trash art” hangs in my study, on the side of my desk. I see her every morning and she always makes me smile! Pub opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come join us!
What a fun little thing… I would smile with that one as well… and recycling is a good thing I think

I sit on the couch each morning and do my journaling, reading and writing…facing her. I always see her first (she’s hanging on the side of my desk) and she gives me good vibes to start the day.
Recycling as art — a very good thing. On that note….some day I’ll write a poem about a shadow box that has wonderful art inside that we commissioned…it uses some of the sterling silver spoons that have been in our family for years…some are cut apart, some whole…and with beautiful painting to give them a “setting” in the background. 🙂

Such a cheerful piece of trash art, Lill! Have you been scouring the markets and shops for a companion for this little lady?

Funny you should say that Kim! We actually found her “sister” on the same day and she hangs in my daughter’s office! 🙂

How much do you want to bet after you go to sleep she jumps down and dances and parties all night long. She looks like so much fun.

Hah! LOVE that idea….and she seems just the type too! I’ll have to look in the morning and see if her little shoes are askew! 🙂

Thanks! Hope to have lots of folks give us little peeks into what’s hanging in their place. Fun to see a “side” of our poets. 🙂

This sounds like good advice: “Wear a perky hat”

Ah Frank…..if you could only see my hats! 🙂 My mother always said, “If you’re going to buy a hat, buy a HAT!” 🙂 I still always wear a hat to church.

It’s good to have something that makes you smile – and I can see why she does! I love her voice coming through in that final stanza.

Yep….if she could talk I’m sure she’d say those things! 🙂 Ah Lill…..things just aren’t that bad if you just pull yourself together! Like she is pulled/put together with so many bits and pieces! 🙂

She is a fun piece of art to see each day. Did you ever think that her feet look like the curling toes of the wicked witch? Nah, it’s probably just me.

Oh yes indeed…..I noticed that first off. My thought was and still is, that perhaps she nabbed them from that wicked witch and gave her elf shoes instead….and then donning them herself, they became wicked no more! 🙂 She makes everyone smile 🙂

I love that this perky creature, composed of so many disparate things turned into a happy whole, is something you chose to a-muse you. This art speaks of you as well as to you and that makes me smile.

Similar to your Creatrix…..I found her hanging in a wonderful shop in Bermuda….but behind many things. It appeared she’d been there for some time. She just spoke to me as did, I’m certain, your Rabbit Mother! 🙂 My daughter calls me a Pollyanna…..and I guess this lovely gal, Flower Heart, is too! Always wide-eyed and smiling. She makes me smile every morning over my first cup of coffee as I sit in my study – usually before dawn – with journal in hand, reading and writing! You’re right – she is a-muse-ing! 🙂

Hi Lillian. This is a note to tell you Christine Irving’s link from Mr Linky is not connecting to her site.

Thanks Rob. I went into Mr Linky and deleted her link….the one you put in too as it went only to her general blog and not to the direct post. I put in a new link that now goes directly to her post….and a really good one it is! Her Creatrix…that reference to Beatrix Potter made me smile! Do appreciate your note!
