City in a hill
hustle bustle back and forth
busily trekking
across sidewalk cracks and squares.
Ants peril, old shuffling feet.
It’s Tuesday Poetics at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. Jill asks us to write a poem about a city, town or village. Can be imaginary or real. Did you know there are actually ants called pavement ants? Also posted for day 10, Napowrimo.
The city is Antwerp?!? Beautifully done!

Unique among city poems – a city of ants living and thriving at our toes. (and I just read Charley’s comment above – wahahaha!) Bravo, Lillian! (Watch your step)

I always used to hate the ant hills on the sidewalks when I was young. They took up space from my hopscotch drawing! 🙂

Don’t tell anyone, but when we go walking in the evening and come across a hopscotch… I grab a rock and play!

Yup….these are a city IN a hill rather than a city on a hill! 🙂

I like how you bring scale and perspective to natural disasters. Actually I get this dull sense of impending dread while living in a city (not visiting) as there is so much to which I’m helpless and that I’m just one more ant in the anthill.

Ah, now that’s an interesting reply….to have us be the ants on the hill! All that hustle and bustle.

Those ants are in a perilous position.

Not proud to say that when I was a little kid, I would deliberate scuff at them to see the ants all scurry around. Fortunately, I’ve turned into a much more thoughtful person! 🙂

Those pesky ants. It is an uphill battle, but at last the ants are winning. I’ll actually be glad when Spring ends and they return home. Thanks for giving them a platform

They do indeed….and as long as these tiny critters stay outside, I’m a happy camper 😉

Yep — just keep ’em outside and away from the kitchen! 🙂

Oh, they like my kitchen too. In the spring they march in like they own the place…
