Flambéed love letters
braised the heat,
slow burned me.
Tonight,
succulent strawberries
dipped in champagne,
our effervescent midnight feast.
Windows flung wide,
erotic shadows cast
by flirtatious moon
swoon ‘cross silken sheets.
Your form undulates
‘neath gossamer negligee,
my heart plunges deep.
D’amour delirium.
Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. Today Victoria is our host, asking us to use the word “burn” or a form of the word, in a quadrille (poem of exactly 44 words, sans title). For a second and more humorous take on the word, go to my second post, Summer Treat.
Oh, yes–hot stuff. You know how to burn that sensual candle.

Sensual! you know how to do a good slow burn, Lillian!

Thanks, Toni. The words “slow burn” came immediately to mind and then somehow the words trailed off to this more sensual sense rather than leading to anger — which I first thought about. Go figure!

Well that’s left me a little flustered. Great use of words.

Oh dear…….didn’t mean to fluster. Somehow my words just moved in this more romantic way. I’d first thought about a slow burn to anger…which is what many do…and then the words turned and here is where I ended up!

Well I went down the romantic path and it turned out a little spicier than intended so I’m not one to talk.

‘Flambéed love letters’ set the bar for the rest of this Quadrille, Lill, and you continued to turn up the heat with your ‘effervescent midnight feast’ and erotic shadows swooning ‘cross silken sheets!.

Shyly smiling I am here, Kim. A most unusual tack for me but the words spilled out and there they were!

Ouch, hot! The opening line made me think of one of the most destructive forest fires in Colorado history, which was rumored to have been started by an enraged forest service worker burning love letters. I don’t know if it was true or not, but glad to see you took the poem elsewhere. Haha!

What a way to start a forest fire! Had not heard that tale. Yes….I decided to slow burn to swoon rather than the usual slow burn to anger.

For me, it was key. I think it illustrates that the personae are absolutely unabashed.

Hi.. Lillian.. thank you for such a warm welcome back
to the dVerse trail for true i’ve been traveling around
the Globe for even more diverse Muse for the Long Form
Poem i continue to write Named “SonG oF mY SoUL” approaching
6 Million Words in 58 months of writing on my 58th Birthday on 6.6.18.
aLong with One-Ten-Thousandth the Distance to the Sun in terms of 9300
Miles of Public Dance by then also in that 58 month period of additionally doing that and
i am happy to admit that the 820th MacroVerse i just finished named “LoVEFReEDNoW”
Accumulated 43,151 Words of Free Verse Poetry in MacroVerse way in just 7 Days.. True..
i never rest on a 7th day.. hehe.. as i finally got a Novel Sized effort done in a week as hey..
i’m here to fulfill Human Potential
and show what’s possible
with avenues prepared
by Humans Holding
Hands in Loving
Cooperative
Ways of
Technology
that do provide amazing
new avenues to create art
with sure.. my weekly average of 300 to 400
Photos i take to more fully illustrate the words
accomplished through iPhone Camera Technology
as well as 30 to 40 YouTube Videos per Novel Sized
Weekly Long Poem Effort where these days a Human
Being can and will be the Director Producer Playwright
Photographer Dancer and Singer and Actor in a one
Human show with ‘a little help from their friends’
which truly includes a ‘Lonely Hearts Club
Band’ of Art and Science through the
ages for now we have all these
amazing new avenues to
do what it took Innumerable
Individuals Centuries to create long before..
hehe.. and i guess the ‘advanced technology’ of my
Shoes and surely the feel and sense the iPhone Youtube
Songs have played a great muse in firing up what will soon enough
in June be One-Ten-Thousandth the Distance to the Sun In Public Dance..
And now unlike folks like Tesla and so many others.. we have pensions and
social safety nets now so folks no longer die leaving unpaid living expenses
as debts.. and a best thing of all is the Van Gogh’s of Life now can and will find
a kind word somewhere in the online world so no longer do they feel like they must cut their
ears off to breathe any peace of mind and heart and spirit and soul of belonging in this World..
To truly go somewhere and do something no one has ever done before one must be willing to
go it alone for long periods of time.. if required.. as these days with the Public Dance.. i get a little
more attention sometimes than what meets my comfort zone of even too much thanks.. now.. for
what goes up
must come
down as
i keep
the eye oF A
Hurricane Of my Art
calm as a Category
6 Million Word Poem mY friEnd
And dVerse has been an integral Muse
for what i’ve done so far.. always happy
to come back by when a trail leads me back this way..:)
