Hope-si-diddly-do
sing a song of happiness.
Care and love shall spin their bliss
hope-si-doodly-do.
Hope-si-diddly-do
dawn shines new, more brightly too
when all join hands and share the light
hope-si-doodly-do.
Hope-si-diddly-do
sing a song of happiness.
Make our world a kinder place
singing do-good-diddly-do.
My granddaughter, Marika, age 9, made up a tune for this and sings it in the video below.
โSung by Marika, age 9 (my grandaughter). A quadrille (44 words) written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets, where today De is giving us the prompt word, “hope.”
I’ve also posted another poem which uses all 42 words (including hope) in this quadrille series: Film Noir Take 42.
How cool is that! Surprised me with the video! Thank you.

Thanks, Glenn. Taking care of grandkids over the long weekend so had Rika help me out! ๐ The words just came and then I realized they’d make a cute song. She thought up the tune. Always happy to hand out smiles ๐ Getting ready to open the bar for Poetics today. VERY late to reading…seems that’s happening of late. Always get to yours though…even if late.

Her dad is a successful composer of choral music and her mom (my daughter) has a DMA in organ performance and teaches organ, harpsichord and directs the choral program at Phillips Academy in Andover. So there LOTS of music in her background ๐

Thanks, Jilly. I read the poem aloud to her and she suggested the idea of singing it. We really had fun doing it! ๐ And yes, it was written for De and thinking of her and Las Vegas…and how children’s innocence and happiness is so needed everywhere.

Oh my! I read her this and she said her papa received a ukulele kit for Christmas last year but hasn’t finished making it yet! I think I’d rather have her lead a lovely life a bit more out of the spot light. But, as with our children….the choice is theirs. ๐ So glad you enjoyed, Frank.

So glad you liked the words, Colin. Sad you cannot hear her singing. Would you be able to play just an audio? If so, I can just record the singing and perhaps email it to you. Up to you. Her voice is quite sweet and compliments the words.
