Lily of the valley and lily-clouds,
soft cotton poofs on high
occasionally tinged sadly
as raindrops teared the sky.
White gloves held pocketbooks
as ruffled anklets met mary janes.
These were my lillian summers,
years gone by.
That’s me with my beloved brother and gramma and grampa.ย Written for Misky’s Twiglet prompt, “lily cloud.”
I love this lily of a poem. And you still look just like this today!

Thanks Toni. It was a fun one to right and also fun to find this picture! ๐ Sadly I don’t remember my gramps as he died soon after this picture was taken. But I do remember my grandmother….she went by the name of Tillie ๐ Isn’t that a fun name? Her real name was Ernestine….and she was such a fun person. I’ve often thought I should have asked her how she got that nickname.

Love the photo. ๐ Similar memories of frilly dresses trimmed in lace and tight white patent shoes (hand-me-down) with a frilly hat and white gloves. Always so glad to get back home to the farm from Sunday morning church and into “real” clothes of jeans or shorts and with no frills or lace. I like this vision “raindrops teared the sky”. โค

Ah, forever the farm girl with the strand of hay in her mouth! ๐ I don’t think I ever saw you in a frilly dress. When you come this way, you’ll have to bring some old pics with you! ๐

And you never will see me in a frilly dress except in pictures of me when I was young. ๐

Could be a photo out of my own album… Different people sure.
But I remember those lace topped socks. And my grandmothers had similar dresses too.

I do treasure these old photos…….and did you wear Easter bonnets too? ๐

Not Easter bonnets. But when I wore those horrid white gloves it was to attend church with my Grandmother who made me wear a hat then.
To this day, I dislike wearing any sort of glove on my hand.
I had the frilly ankle socks, and confess to wearing such styles still.
