We’ve travelled together
through all these years
hand in hand, even apart,
exploring each twist and turn.
So much of our story behind us now,
turned down corners on favorite pages.
Still, we walk on, more slowly perhaps,
wizened bodies and fuller hearts.
Listen my love
as we choose our next path,
to these words I quietly say.
Thank you time, thank you you,
for this and every day.
Today Mish hosts dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. She interviews Ally R Saunders, a talented artist who spent most of her life in Nanaimo, includes some of her paintings and leads us to her website. I chose her painting Many Paths as the muse for today’s post. (My 47th anniversary is February 7 and Kim at dVerse just celebrated her anniversary) ย dVerse opens with this prompt at 3 PM Boston time.
A lovely celebration, Lillian. And my anniversary is 16 Feb. Itโs a good month. >

Ooooh, thank you so much Ally. I truly enjoy your paintngs and had a difficult time choosing one to use as my muse. You have a real talent! ๐ So VERY glad you’ve come to dVerse and allowed us to attach our words, our emotions, our thoughts, to your art.

It is so nice that all the poems I’ve encountered so far are upbeat, loving, & fun. Perhaps we’re all exhausted by the fascist shock events hogging the news.

So much love in your voice…47 years, that is a beautiful thing, indeed. Best wishes to you both! What I especially like about your poem is the choosing of the next path…there should always be a next one, whether it is a new adventure or simply discovering something new about your spouse.
