My Choice

Crimson me
solitary vibrant leaf
bright among the detritus of fall

Crimson me
rising sun ‘neath lone streak of cloud
splashing daylight into roiling ocean’s blue

Crimson me
hand-tied twisted rambling tail
flying high with diamond kite in sky

Crimson me
red rose beribboned bright
silent love song from stoic gone rogue

Palette of smudged pastels and oils
color me in life’s brightest hue
more than a blush, a sheen

I choose patina
to shine, to soar, to sing
I choose to live in love

I love how you took an adjective and used it as a verb. Crimson me…oh yes!

Some how I’ve always loved to verbify! 🙂 I did a post quite some time ago that ran with “Ganache me” and it had yummy photos with it too! Glad you enjoyed.

Yes, your photo collage fleshes out the images your words inspired in my mind, Red has always been my favorite color, from power ties to my vehicle. The fifth stanza resonates for me, as does the photo. An oil painter’s palette becomes instant abstract art.

This palette was hanging on the outside door of a Bermuda artist’s studio 🙂 Needed no address as it was the only palette in sight. Yes, I can definitely picture you in a red car! Cherry red or claret red? Or fire engine red? 🙂

This is so lovely and the use of repetition works so well. I always savor poems that use painterly and color metaphors and this one just overflows with them. Photos also delight.

First off, “crimson me” is fantastic. Always always fond of noun as verb. Then, its repetition only makes me more so. Beautiful.

You’re wearing your rose colored glasses again, aren’t you Lillian? I’m glad, that’s a spot of beauty on the horizon

My daughter says I’m a Pollyanna. Well….for me….I like to believe in the good. I’ll take rose colored glasses any day agains smog and the polluted air that some seem to carry with them. Glad you enjoyed! 🙂

I love the way you filled the poem with colour through repetition of just one word coupled with beautiful imagery, Lillian! It’s hard to choose a favourite line.

Wonderful play with the word Crimson….I hear Pirate and tide alongside that word but you paint a much more beautiful picture.

“Crimson me” is evocative on its own, combined with the rest of your words, it near transcendent.
