Bermuda

…and I shall imbibe her beauty…
shape-shifter clouds, wisps and trails…
lemon sherbet sun with melting rays…
pink sand beaches beguiled by sea glass…
aquamarine waters, clear and bright…
yellow kiskadees sing to dawn
as loquats plump for picking…
oh Bermuda, I do savor thee

Photos taken in Bermuda this past February and March. Here, the loquat are just ripening. Posted for Open Link Night at dVerse, a virtual pub for poets. Bar opens for OLN today at 3 PM — stop on over and read what others have to share!

Beautiful. I like the flow of your title into your poem. May have to go to Bermuda just for the sea glass alone. Wow.

It is a very special place. We’ll spend February there again next year.

The color of the water is impossible to describe — it really looks like that — no photoshopping.

I have never found sea glass on a beach; fascinating, but I need to get to Belize before Bermuda on my bucket list. I like the line /pink sand beaches beguiled by sea glass/–I flashed on colorful shards of net floats.

I adore sea glass — the smoothness — and I always wonder who was touching it before it became a shard. Belize: that sounds good too!

My goodness Lillian 😀 you have painted such an enchanting image of Bermuda here ❤ especially "pink sand beaches beguiled by sea glass…aquamarine waters, clear and bright…" makes me yearn to go there and see it for myself! Sigh… beautifully penned.

    Lots of love,

Goodness, this is a pleasure to read aloud, over and over: “pink sand beaches beguiled by sea glass.” I also really like “lemon sherbet sun.” Off to research loquats. What a delightful word.

Bermudeans make jam out of loquats….they’re pictured in the photo gallery with the poem. They are golden when ready to pick — the photo shows loquats just beginning to ripen. Glad you enjoyed!

I always settle in for my reading the morning after — with a nice cup of hot coffee — unless I’m hosting the bar. So look forward to reading yours tomorrow 🙂

This is perfectly lovely. I especially like this description: “lemon sherbet sun with melting rays.” Makes me look forward to my trip to Hawaii next week. Not quite Bermuda, but a shorter flight for me.

There are two beaches in Bermuda that we always visit to find sea glass — so fun. Glad you enjoyed — I’ll be moseying over to read your OLN post tomorrow morning. I always do my reading with a steaming cup of coffee in the early morning after (unless I’m hosting as I did with Razzle Dazzle). See you then! 🙂

It is truly beautiful there. Most folks think it’s in the Caribbean – actually it’s off the coast of North Carolina in the Atlantic and just a 90 minute nonstop flight from Boston!

It is a beautiful place. Their low winter temperatures at night are 54; and daytime temps in winter are usually mid-60s to low 70s. Great hiking/walking/strolling weather!

It is truly beautiful! The entire country is only 23 miles long and at its widest point, only 2 and 1-2 miles wide — so you can see those beautiful waters from most everywhere!

Matthew is really fierce…Bermuda is off the coast of North Carolina in the Atlantic; not in the Caribbean. Hopefully for Bermudians, Matthew won’t hit that far north. Poor Florida coast…

Every time I ready your poems, Lillian, I feel I’m faced with genius. No bull. There is something in your imagery, your words, that goes straight to my heart. Sometimes I just have to put my head on the desk, and stop reading. Some of your work just shattered my soul. Brava.

Late to replying….so glad you enjoyed. I always find the smoothness of sea glass so mystifying as in, how long was it in the water, how many wave tumbles in and out till I picked it up, and who held it before it was a shard??? If only sea glass could talk!😊
