Merry Me Not

Carnival merry-go-rounds go
round and round and up and down.
My knot-so-merry-tummy goes
round and round and up
and down and urp [sic] it goes,
paint me calliope green.

Written for dVerse Tuesday Poetics where CC is tending bar. The topic of conversation is “even monkeys fall from trees.”  CC asks us to write about mistakes we’ve made – can be humorous or serious. Well, I learned the hard way — I never ride on merry-go-rounds! Photo credit: Richard Styles

🙂 I never sit backwards on a train! 🙂 Nor can I read while on a train, bus, or automobile!

Oh, I love all carnival rides! I can go 50 times in a row. I wish you could experience it in the same delightful way as me :/

Love roller coasters and other rides that do not just go in circles. It’s the going round I don’t do well with😳😜

Your words place me squarely in circular head spinning pain, Lillian (don’t know if I should be thanking you for this experience right now;))
I cannot do round and round either
up and down is another story;)

Yep – no tilta-whirl or spinning tea cups or merry go rounds for me!

I like your light-hearted take on CC’s prompt. I don’t mind the carousel but would steer clear of the roller coaster. Smiles.

I just can’t do the circular ones! I once got out of the tilta-whirl too early, too disoriented, and it whipped around, hit me and I fell into the lit spokes in the middle!!! Too much cotton candy I thin😳

ok, so no Tilt-a-Whirl. Whew! Then the Harry Potter dragon thing at Universal is a ‘go’! I’ll bring my wand… 🙂

This is why I don’t ride rides — except for the car I’m driving. I laughed. But really, it was a sympathy laugh for the voice in your poem.

Heehee. This happened to me once, on a ride at the fairgrounds. Fair food and rides do NOT go together…

Oh! I am so happy to finally know someone who understands and goes through the same turmoil as I do! Actually, I can’t go on any of these fun rides but that’s another matter. Love your take on the prompt 🙂

Glad you enjoyed, Maria. Even with our grandchildren….I’m the photographer on firm ground while Grampa rides those horses! 🙂

Merry-Go-Rounds are tolerable. Roller Coasters keep thee away from me! Lesson learned Lillian.

Absolutely the reverse for me….and certainly no cotton candy or skittles before those rides!
