aunt, uncle, cousin
vanished from the lexicon
and boys longed for girls
Having travelled to China three times when I led a Global MBA, I found a beautiful country, people and culture. China recently rescinded their one child policy, recognizing the various problems it ultimately created. Photo Credit: Bobby McGill.
The photo is great and China indeed is a great country!

Wow hadn’t really thought through the implications of such a policy until I read your poem.

Yes. When I met with head of AmEx there, he talked about the ramifications for HR departments. As in, the only child policy resulted in many treasured and pampered children who then had no idea how to take constructive criticism on the job. For me, degrees in rhetorical studies, I thought about the literal effect on language.

You’re probably the only one to think of doing so! Imagine if those words had disappeared from the lexicon.
