Pop beads.
You remember them.
Plastic, in white or pink.
Pop ‘em on. Pop ‘em off,
accessorize or not.
Kind of like he treated her.
Pop-it beads: a 1950s fad. Anybody else remember them?

I used to love the sound of the pop beads — never really just wore them. Just kept popping them on and off.
Yes – somehow that last line just “popped” out of my pen!

I’m glad it did. It gave the poem an interesting meaning.

Lillian,
I had an image in my mind of tugging at those fanciful beads then you artistically made them tighten ’round the neck – perfectly witty and wonderfully timed.

So glad you enjoyed.
Last day of wonderful 5-day early family Christmas at my son’s in NC – daughter and family here too. 5 grandkids (two 9 year olds, two 7 year olds, and one 4 year old) have kept us busy and laughing. Family – one of the greatest gifts of all.
