The cormorant held its breath
and disappeared from sight.
Black, long necked sleek bird,
ducked under, gone.
Like an actor in the second act
it pops up in a different place
new school of fish
different shoreline.
Would that we could do that
shift the paradigm
be a revisionist cormorant,
hold our breath
and recreate the scene.

I love that it “pops up in a different place like an actor in the second act.” Excellent. >

I had a fascinating picture in my mind as I posed the question to myself.
Perfect bird to illustrate your thoughts here this morning, my coffee-sipping friend.
Happy Monday, Lillian.

Loved watching these creatures from our deck in Ptown….they’d pop under and my eye would roam, trying to guess where they would come up again! 🙂 Glad you liked it. Up a little later this morning….just on my first cup!

I’ve seen many diving cormorants, but I never thought of it that way… “and recreate the scene”… but isn’t that so true?
