Mirror Image egamI rorriM

I stand here, you there
separated by a chasm of disbelief.

I know me, I feel me.
Who then, are you?

You must be from another place
or time or universe.

When I turn my head away,
will you laugh at my derision?

Will you reach out,
pat my back and mutely say

There there, you’ll be alright.
Are you sympathetic to what I see?

My memories are inside of me,
hidden to the outside world.

I do not wear them for all to see.
Why then, do you?

    Lillian,
The mirror. Reflections of someone we sometimes recognize and other times do not. Our mind mirrors freeze the versions we’d like presented to the world while our reality is otherwise. We walk by groups of the young – sometimes our mind mirrors starts yelling – “hey, we didn’t always look like this!” 😉
This was a perfect piece for introspection over a steamy coffee.

Your words here really say it all. Some days I feel like 82 and then my mirror says “hello 68 year old” and others my head says I’m 40 and my mirror says 70! :).
This 4 hour time difference is a bit of a nuisance — up at 4 AM today — ah well. We take a dome car train today – let the adventure begin! Anchorage has been fun to explore :). Halibut and salmon dinners — yum!

Those time differences will age one quickly 😉 I’m sure you’re getting that kind of fabulous morning sleep that comes with vacations 🙂
Mirrors can be our friends when we welcome them into our homes. 🙂
