She grew up in the heartland
with ribbons in her hair
and saddle shoes that skipped to school,
unlocked doors with swings on front porches
yards strewn with bicycles and holly hocks.
She kept a carefree heart these many years,
her memento of those bygone days.
This is lovely. It makes me want to try a self-portrait.

Morning Lillian.
Just stopping by to wish you a glorious trip! Enjoy and relax – the two most important goals of the entire vacation premise 🙂
Your writing piece here transported me back to my love of saddle shoes and dread of blue knee socks (always too tight). Terrific words here this am.
am:)

I loved my saddle shoes — white knee socks with mine. Thanks for the wishes and, as always, for chatting over my morning cup 🙂
Have some pieces scheduled in advance…..and will, I’m sure, be doing some writing while gazing at the Alaska sites. Especially looking forward to an all day tour of Denali National Park. Stay tuned! 🙂

Thanks, Leslie. We are getting ready to leave the hotel for a well known local spot that serves breakfast all day, including reindeer sausage! Yes, we are in Alaska! 🙂
And I did love my saddle shoes 🙂
