Love Becoming

Gateways to the heart
change through the seasons.

Youthful romanticism,
tempted by pastels
sweet scented carnations
valentines in pink envelopes
a rosebud mouth.

Passionate eroticism,
eyes seek carnal depths
lips’ open invitation
rose petal paths
and pulsing tempos.

Love divine, a decoupage,
years layered on years
passion and comfort
within familiar folds,
your skin next to mine.

Simply beautiful as is your natural form. Lillian, you have been nominated for the Liebster Award. You can find the nomination at the top of my blog.

Thanks so much for the compliment and the nomination, Alan! πŸ™‚ Just sent in my registration for Holly’s June Solstice Challenge. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I’m reading Ted Kooser’s (poet laureate 2004-06) The Poetry Home Repair Manual. A very fun book and really informative! Not like a textbook at all…I got a copy at the library and found that by page 4 I wanted to underline and make notes in the margins so got a paperback from Amazon. I just reworked a poem for the class I’m in now with her (only one more week to go) because of what I was reading. Think you would like it! πŸ™‚

Thanks so much Barbarak. These were two of my favorite photos from Bermuda….so the poem really was motivated by these. I especially like the softness of the first picture, hence the romanticism in the second stanza. So glad you like it! πŸ™‚

Ah….later with my first cup of coffee this morning as I went to an 8 AM class on “building the core” — in the physique, not in poetry πŸ™‚ So nice to see you this morning! Glad you like it.

Hope you had a lovely day, Lillian.
Ah, yes the old core – the center of the body’s universe. Maintain strong abs and the spine holds true πŸ™‚
