Early buds of spring tempt
like sizzling popcorn kernels
suddenly burst open
to joyful oohs and ahs.
Cheerful yellow daffodils
beside candy-striped tulips
nestle in new mown grass.
Wide-eyed passersby
enjoy blue hyacinth perfume
beneath canopies of creamy
white magnolia trees.
Discarded bulky coats reveal
bright topped pregnant bellies
as young women strut
like ducklings on parade.
New life popping everywhere!

A lovely invitation to a new spring!

Hi Lillian,
I subbed in an elementary school yesterday, and a few young teachers did display the wonderful popping sign of Spring you so aptly describe above. 🙂
These words describe the perfect Spring.

Thanks AnnMarie. Since we don’t own a car, we walk everyhere in the city — occasionally taking the T or the commuter rail. I’ve always noticed that when the outdoor furniture appears outside the cafe and spring pops, it seems like their are preganant women everywhere 🙂 Maybe this year moreso with the historical snowfall winter? 🙂 And in today’s fashion, they’re in bright many times form fitting tops — so cheerful in comparison to the tops we made that looked like tents in my day! 🙂

Hi Lillian –
By not owning a car, you must get the best out of Boston 🙂 I agree, the long winter went a long way in support of baby-making 😉
Tent tops had their own brand of charm 🙂
Today’s maternity clothes along with every other article of clothing – even having a set of my own – I feel like I can never escape breasts – they’re everywhere anymore – geez…what ever happened to seductively classic 😉
Again, have a beautiful Mother’s Day.
