It’s Just a Simple Thing . . .

I promise, she shyly whispered,
to only stomp in mud puddles
when the grumbles grab me.
To weave daisy chains
when the nervous-nellies strike.
To concentrate on blessings
like tulips, birch trees,
snow flakes, puppies,
and sweet juicy peaches.
And her guardian angel smiled.

It’s Quadrille Monday at dVerse today, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. As pubtender for the day, I’m asking folks to include the word “promise” in the body of their poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. They may use a form of the word “promise” but a synonym will not suffice. Stop by and see what folks are writing about – I promise you’ll enjoy! Image by ymyphoto from Pixabay

I love the idea of only stomping in mud puddles ‘when the grumbles grab me’, Lill – and making my guardian angel smile! I’m busy packing and then I’m going to bed for an early start. Have a lovely time reading quadrilles, and enjoy the rest of the week. See you next Monday for Prosery!

I used to LOVE stomping in puddles when I was young…it strikes me it would be a good way to work out any frustration feelings as well as anger! 🙂

Such a sweet image of the girl stomping on mud puddles. Love her list of daisy chains and blessing of puppies and peaches.

Actually I still do….most recently when my spouse had a 6 minute cardiac arrest on October 14, 2013 (not a heart attack). So many things fell in to place in terms of timing, where he was, who answered a knock at the door to assist, elevator doors being open, living across the street from Mass General Hospital (so the man who sold us our place in ’97), kids being home, etc etc etc that I often said then and still say about the time, there were “angels along the way” that brought him back to us, and 100% cognitively okay.

I had fun writing this one. sometimes it’s good to write something sweet and sort of fluffy, if you know what I mean. Sometimes we need that.

I really love this, Lillian. It feels filled with gratitude. At first I thought it might be a parent writing about a child, yet the more I read it the more it seems like a reminder to an adult you (or us) to not take life so seriously, to balance the negative parts with something fun and playful.
