Dance with me
through these elder years.
New rhythms. Calmer,
slower yet upbeat,
even when adagio.
In sync still,
thankful for every day.
Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe. Today, Mish asks us to write a poem that has something to do with dance. Video taken on our last cruise by a passenger who saw us dancing. About to celebrate 54 years on February 7th with the love of my life – my dancing partner through so many years.

I love the word adagio. Takes me back to my piano lesson days. And congratulations. You are fortunate to have a dancing partner.

Fortunate indeed. As I said at the end of the poem, thankful for every day.
That word “adagio” comes from my VERY early dance training (IE in my teens) and from my kids taking piano. It is indeed a good word to use in many contexts.

Congratulations! Fifty four years together and still dancing, Lill, that’s an amazing anniversary to celebrate. And I was astonished that we have survived thirty one years! Sadly, David and I have never danced together.

I LOVE this video and have loved watching the two of you move gracefully around the dance floor for years. Yours is a lost art!
Thank you!

How sweet … sweet. Wishing you many more of these years. Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my Gordon poem … he was the dearest man friend I have ever had, knew more about me, my life than my children/my sisters. We trusted each other, never scolded, had unconditional respect and love for each other.

Adagio, yes, by in sync. That’s what counts! Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary, Lill, and may you both have many more, and many more dances too!
