Charles Andrew Jr.
birthed before the War,
nine years my elder.
Took leave far too early
buried deep atop grassy hill,
mountain range across the way.
I see your image
every day,
looking out at me.
Framed and under glass,
always smiling.
Forever fifty-one.
It was Quadrille Monday at dVerse. The prompt word was “early” and somehow, I’m late to post for it! Photo is my brother…..hard to believe he’s been gone almost 30 years.
Quadrille: a poem of exactly 44 words, sans title.
Condolences Lillian, lovely poem, I like that you remember him always smiling at you.

It is always too early when the one we loved dies. I like that you keep his picture, smiling at you. A most superior Quad.

How lovely that you keep your big brother’s memory and his photograph close, Lill. ‘Forever fifty-one’ and always smiling, a lovely way to remember him.

What a tribute… thirty years and still being missed. Left a young man, and it has to be hard growing up without that elder brother…
