Cue dream journey.
Breeze flickers, curls, skips, dances.
Creaking ghosts kick clouds,
grin, giggle, twist, shimmer.
Whispered sounds spring free,
echo, bubble, balloon.
Still lull spills open,
sparks storm, jars bliss.
Drizzled rose-red blood-shadows
pepper dawn, scar green leaves.
Fear spices breath.
Hope melts.
De hosts dVerse today. We must include the word “kick” in a Quadrille: poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. Quadrille Mondays occur every other week. Each quadrille series includes 44 Mondays: a different prompt each Monday. We need only include that week’s prompt in our poem. WE ARE NOW AT THE END OF THIS SERIES, MONDAY #44! This post includes all 44 words given in the series thus far: kick, creak, hope, spice, free, bliss, dream, fear, flicker, pepper, dance, bubble, grin, lull, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath, scar, curl, whisper, dawn, ghost, giggle, drizzle, still, echo, sound, storm, spring, and balloon. ‘Tis the final act of the Film Noir series. Bar opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come join us!
Splendid.

Great scary poem I love the line: Drizzled rose-red blood-shadows. It’s a great description!

Hah! Those rose-red blood-shadows are one of the few images that have remained through all the reiterations of the Film Noir series. Glad you enjoyed.

Oh neat. I have read a few from the series but not all, I’ll watch for that line now 🙂

What an interesting approach, to use all of the words of the series.
It makes for an interesting turn there in the middle. Everything going good, and then something happens and all the colors darken just a bit. Jars bliss. I like the double meaning there….to jar, or shake bliss…but then to can “jar” bliss, lock it up.
How easily this can happen in real life. In one pivotal moment.

You’ve got that exactly right. The nightmare that jarred bliss — double meaning does work here. So glad you enjoyed! Really appreciate your thoughtful comment.

So glad you enjoyed. Yes 🙂 kickin’ the clouds is must better than those ghosts kickin’ the bucket….after all, they’ve already done that 🙂

Wonderful! An amazing gift you have with words. I like how this poem starts out calm and playful, then rises as “ghost kick” and “sounds spring free” to manifest a “storm” and “drizzle” rendering “fear” and “hope melts” . Such a fun read. ❤

Glad you enjoyed! It was a fun series….now in two weeks, it’ll just be a one-word-prompt-debut. Finale done! 🙂

Oh my goodness, the final film noir! I will miss it. What are you going to do for the rest of the year? I love the opening line – very you, Lill – and the movement of the breeze. Those ghosts have been having a wonderful tiem this year.

Thanks Kim. All I can say is “Whew!” Finale done. Yes….the journeyman disappeared and the “cue” shifted from last line to first line. A fun series to do. You’ve been wonderfully supportive in your comments throughout. Many thanks! 🙂

So clever and coherent – the movement from play to alarm through this verse -and all the foreshadowing of a true thriller – the film noir has been a great series.

Thank you much, Peter. So glad you enjoyed it and that you followed the “plot” so well … if you can call it that. Much relief to do the finale….now onward in two weeks to a simple one-word debut! 🙂

Thanks, Frank. I must admit….I am quite relieved to have reached the finale. And now, onward to the one-word debut in two weeks. A new series shall unfold….or perhaps simply some independently standing vignettes! 🙂

Drizzled rose-red blood-shadows …. that is an attention-getter.. and you use all the words so effortlessly

Thank you! Those words “rose-red blood-shadows” are the only ones that have carried through all the acts of this film noir series…and the only hyphenated words. It’s been a challenge and . . . whew! I’m so glad to get to the finale. It’s been fun but now it’s time to move on in two weeks and have a one-word debut! 🙂

I don’t know how you do it! I liked the structure you gave to this with the breeze, ghosts, etc followed by the actions they take. Very impressive!

I wonder if you will be sick of these words and ban them from future poems or if seeing them from many angles has given you more ideas for using them?
