Quiet resounds here.
Time reined in, schedules disappear.
Low tide reveals sand swirls,
lazy etchings from past eddies.
Once afloat in deep water
languid sailboats rest askew,
moorings draped in dripping sea grass.
Plover chatter creates far-off natural hum
occasionally interrupted by a raucous gull.
Sipping coffee in a slight ocean breeze
my mind wanders,
savoring the serenity of this place.
I’m hosting Tuesday Poetics at dVerse today, the virtual pub for poets. Prompt word/s: rain, rein, and/or reign. Folks are invited to use one, two, or all three of these words. The one caveat is the poem must have a positive bent. Come join poets from across the globe — we’re a friendly bunch so would love to have you participate! Pub opens at 3PM Boston time. And yes, I’m in our beloved Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Two glorious weeks in this beautiful place. Photos from our deck. Feet are from a few years back…but others are from yesterday and today. It’s a special place in the off-season.
Lovely pics and I always still love your pink toenails. We all have those special places. We are happy, serene, satisfied there. I think this place is yours.

Oh it definitely is! Over the years I can count on one hand the number of rain storms we’ve had here…but they’re really interesting to watch them roll in….clouds forming a dark gray blanket over the sky and the water of the ocean being pelted. We do love it here! 🙂

I love the way your holiday breathes into your poem, Lill! Just the lines
‘Quiet resounds here.
Time reined in, schedules disappear’ resound with relaxation.
You paint such a restful picture in:
‘Low tide reveals sand swirls,
lazy etchings from past eddies.
Once afloat in deep water
languid sailboats rest askew,
moorings draped in dripping sea grass’.
Wish I was there!

It is truly a beautiful place. We are blessed to come here each year for two weeks. It is so serene….that I had “serenity” spelled wrong! 😦 Just corrected it. Happy to take folks here at least with my words 🙂

perfect! I miss the gulls, and wonder if they miss me?

It is truly a beautiful place. The ocean is mesmorizing and we love watching and listening to the gulls, sandpipers and plovers. Sunrises and sunsets are beautifully calming on the ocean. 🙂

Glad you enjoyed, Adda. When we get back from our 2 weeks in Ptown, will look at the Skype thing. This would be a wonderful place for you and TJ to kick back and relax. 🙂

I would love to, but I’m not sure if TJ will ever be able to travel again. We’ll see. 🙂 BTW, did you notice the words I wrote? I took the first word from each line, I liked how it sounded.

Went back and reread — first word from every line….you are a poet! 🙂 Found poetry…Taking something and making poetry out of it….in this case, a poem from a poem. I’ve done “found poetry” by writing down the names of books on a book shelf…..and then choosing some, arranging them into a poem. I like to do that with other people’s book shelves. Go to yours and if it’s multiple shelves, just choose 2 or 3 and write down all the titles….then comes the fun. Of course, at the end of the poem, if you put it on a blog etc, you have to credit the titles with the author’s names etc. I think I have two of those somewhere on my blog! 🙂

So this is like what is called “found poetry.” Interesting how it sounds, right? First words…love how you did this. 😊

Thank you. Did you know that the poet Mary Oliver lives here? Also many artists. Provincetown is a muse for many — for me, a lowly home poet too. LOVE it here! 🙂

Wow. She is my biggest inspiration. I would absolutely pee myself if I came face-to-face with her.

It is a beautiful place indeed. Our rental (This is our 17th year here) is in the quiet East end….and right on the ocean. We walk into town (where it’s quite a bit more lively!!!l) to meander the art galleries, hit a few of our favorite shops, and for suppers sometimes too.

It is truly beautiful here. I do think we all need some positive cheer in our lives admidst the chaos, especially given recent hurricanes in US, Cuba, and islands; and the monsoon in India. Always happy to share this special place through photos and words. If you look at the “headers” on my blog, you’ll see Cape Cod photos. Those are some of the best we’ve taken over the years 🙂

It is indeed. It’s what’s called the “shoulder” season here. Tourist-time/summer ends with labor day weekend. And winter is not here. Much more quiet this time of year….and still with gorgeous weather! 🙂

I love the lazy etchings…one can’t get enough serenity these days. Thanks, Lillian. Btw, I accidentally posted my poem to Monday’s quadrille..I hope it can be deleted.

Glad you enjoyed this one. Serenity — a necessary state of mind to “refresh” 🙂
Just deleted the link on the quadrille site. No problem. Glad to help.

Hi Kathy — hmmmm….you had two posts on the rain/reign/rein Mr Linky. I pulled up one…and it said there was no such page so I deleted it. I just know linked into the one left on Mr Linky for the rain/reign/rein and it also says, no such page. Can you tell me if I deleted the wrong one? Do you have a post for the rain/reign/rein prompt? If so, Mr. Linky is still open….will you post it again? I’ll look at the Monday quadrille Mr. Linky and delete that one for you. A bit of confusion here on my part…apologies.
