Mountain Haiku

earth sheds detritus
clutter clutched in melting snow –
rivers cascade spring

Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets from across the globe where today, Paul is tending bar and asks us to write about rivers. Pub opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come river dance with us!

Lovely haiku. The photo is beautiful. The haiku and the haiku complement each other beautifully. Well done!

Your beautiful brevity pays off big time–saying in haiku what I took two pages to touch upon, In 1977 I did a play in Sidney, stopping in New Zealand; always wanted to go back for an in depth visit; envious smile.

I agree with Glenn here…the brevity adds depth and beauty. The combination of Haiku and photo are superb. Thank You for honoring the prompt so eloquently.

In Boston, spring is being bashful and ole man winter is still a curmudgeon!

Thanks, Kim! Your words bring to mind my mom’s very thorough spring cleaning habit. We had to empty every kitchen cupboard and clean it, scrub it, wipe down contents etc. She was a bit obsessive with it, but then she also ironed my father’s boxer shorts! 😉🙃

I’m a bit slapdash on the cupboard cleaning but I admit to ironing bath and tea towels, underwear and anything else that can be ironed – I love ironing while listening to the radio! 🙂

this was lovely to read! living in a tropical country we seldom think how the river is formed, I love the link to how it came to be. Snow being something I think about a lot!

I enjoy both the haiku, and when three lines won’t do, the seven line tanka is fun too. I enjoy the challenge of brevity. Sometimes it works and sometimes not! Glad you enjoyed this one.
