The Language We Live

Her youth was filled with dreams
but dreams need words
when you rise from bed.

Fireman, policeman, chairman of the board
man-hours too stiff with ill-fitting pants
workman’s comp beyond her grasp.

Now, in the waning years of life
eye sight dimmed with time
she finally began to see
the power of the word.

Thank you so much for this comment. I’m glad you connected with the poem. If you look at my About, you’ll see how strongly I believe in the power of words.
So nice to meet you over my evening glass of wine. Hope you’ll meander by again !

I most certainly will. And wine. A great idea!
