Worlds Apart

Before this
brick, concrete, two hospitals,
Old West’s church steeple.
My Boston’s high-rise views.

Before this
seventh floor balcony,
city walks.
My outside.

Here, the ocean lives outside my door.
Sun rises in pastel silence.
Serenity lingers on the breeze.
I can just be.

Written for Quadrille Monday at dVerse, the virtual pub for global poets. Today the word to use in our poem of exactly 44 words, sans title, is linger. Photos taken from our deck this morning in Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod.

A beautiful and calm scene with:

    Dawn blushes in pastel silence.
    Serenity lingers on the breeze.

It is truly wondrous here. My pen just glides across the page each morning in my journal…and the colors and scenery always changing even though I remain in the same place, observing from the same vantage point. Five more glorious days….even stormy, rainy days are beautiful here.

There is something about being away from concrete that sets one free. Such lovely photos of your place by the sea.

Our 23rd year of renting this same unit on the very tip of Cape Cod. It never disappoints.

Five days left of our annual two weeks here. Same rental on the ocean for the past 23 years and yet the scene, the colors, the ocean and sky are always changing….even when seen from the same vantage point.

Envious of and happy for you, Lil. You have written about your Cape Cod rental many times, and the results are always wonderful; love the photos.

There is something about water that makes me want to linger in its calm.
    Your ending spoke to me,
    “Dawn blushes in pastel silence.
    Serenity lingers on the breeze.
    I can just be.”

    Lovely photos too.

How lovely to have a place where you can just “be”. Isn’t that everyone’s dream?
