A Dora Ditty

Known for dabbling in couture,
Dora decorated herself
like you would your house,
mimicking holiday seasons.
They thought her daft
and could only laugh
as she walked down the street
in a Christmas wreath,
at their annual Easter parade.
Her reward?
Most Unusual Bonnet.

Written for dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. It’s Quadrille Monday and De asks us to use the word “dabble” in our quadrille: a poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. I went for humor today — figure we can all use a little chuckle in these upsetting, challenging and unusual times.

Since I created the character of Dora, I’ll assume she had one artificial wreath she used each Christmas and decided to use it as a hat one year! 🙂

Dora just might make another appearance in March after De’s suggestions to deck her out in shamrocks! 🙂

This is so much fun. The humour; the rhyme; the twist. Nicely done, Lillian.

So glad you enjoyed. I just needed a little bit of the whimsical what with all the horror happening in the US right now!

What a wonderful way to start out on the trail. Lucious levity. I agree we all need it about now. I wonder what Dora wore on Thanksgiving?

This reminds me of a woman at my church who would decorate her cane to match whatever season or holiday it was.
