Dream suite décor.
Rest upon cumulus pillows
as moonbeam lullaby lulls.
Sprinkled star dust
spreads drowsiness
as deep sleep seeps in.
Spirits soar into everland,
ethereal land of smiles.
Compassion and love live,
bloom in forever springs.
Until we jolt awake,
plopped . . .
into another mundane day.
I’m hosting Tuesday Poetics today at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. The topic to consider is dreams / dreaming. Go to the site and listen to some wonderful songs about dreaming (Youtube links) sung by the Everly Brothers, Bobby Darrin, Bing Crosby, and the Mama and Papas. Pub opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come join us!
Yet we trust they show us what’s in our hearts.

Oh dear…..sweet dreams are made of this…..Which song does that come from? Perhaps falling asleep listening to California Dreaming would help? 🙂

I like thought of being plopped into the day.

I debated between that word and “dumped” — plopped is a bit gentler, I think 🙂

I enjoyed the play on sweet/suite in the title and opening line, Lill, and would love to have this kind of dream. I’m another of those who have weird or scary dreams. I long for and ‘ethereal land of smiles’, if only for one night! Mundane will do too.

Glad you caught the play on words with the title and first line. Yes….wouldn’t it be nice if we could just pick up the phone before bed and order up this kind of dream decor? 🙂

I love that plopped – as if you are a raindrop, dropping from those dreamy clouds.

Every dream is an opportunity for adventure, you’re right. Maybe wherever your life finds itself, the dreams will balance what’s in the waking…

Yes! Wouldn’t it be nice if just before we went to bed, we could dial up a particular dream suite decor….a topic of our choosing….how sweet it would be!

Ah yes….one thing I learned after my husband’s critical medical emergency 6+ years ago…..the mundane is actually wonderful! Boring health is good! 🙂 And we will celebrate 50 years together on February 7th! 🙂

happy, happy 50 together for the 7th of February, a most joyful celebration to have walked through life together. the mundane is comforting when chaos reigns.

I love “cumulus pillows” and “moonbeam lullaby.” Then plopping like Sarah says as a raindrop back to reality.
That’s what my dreams and waking are often like. 🙂

So glad you enjoyed, Merril! And happy birthday almost to your daughter….and I have a grand niece who will be 1 on the same day. An auspicious date indeed 🙂

deliciously soft like a fleeting dream, Lillian. And the alliteration and “s” sounds are comforting. “cumulus pillows
as moonbeam lullaby lulls.” aaah

Yes….and wouldn’t it be nice if we could decorate our bedroom in “dream suite decor” and thus encourage all our dreams to be sweet? 🙂

What an idea Lillian 🙂 Reality inspires dreams and dreams direct reality, so yes, it would be amazing ❤️

Yup. Sometimes when I wake from a dream I feel indeed like I’m being plopped back into reality….better that than jolted, right? 🙂

Exactly! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there really was a dream decor we could choose for our bedrooms that would insure wonderful sleep with occasional dreams that are all positive and serenely sweet?

Sometimes when I wake up I still think I’m in the dream. It can take a minute or two for reality to sink in. Great poem!

Hi Caitlin. I totally agree with that taking a few minutes to get back into reality. PS: Your link in Mr. Linky for your dream poem post goes to a page that says “OOPS…this is embarassing..no post etc” Can you please repost your poem with a new entry on Mr. Linky? Once you do, I’ll delete the faulty link.
