Respite

Rocking my soul,
surrounded by lush forest
as lazy loons float upon the lake.
Leaves rustle occasionally
while wooden slats creak
back and forth,
back and forth.
My soul dozes carefree,
enveloped in Adirondack calm.

Very calming. We all need places like this to rejuvenate and reconnect with oneself, to allow the “soul dozes carefree”. Wonderful!! thank you for reminding us of this uniqueness.

Nice take on the prompt. Family reunions are the best. Of course there is always that one or two relatives that you just as soon not visit with .

Looks like the perfect place for respite, Lill! I love the sounds in this poem: loons, leaves and creaking wooden slats. Have a relaxing family reunion!

It was a joyful time! And now, just last weekend I was in Denver to be with my sister-in-law and her family. Joyful again! Although no restful scenes like this one šŸ™‚

Such a wonderful place in which to escape. I can just smell the air and feel the coolness of it. Rocking is a wonderful way to relax and recycle. Have a happy reunion!

It was sad to leave. But so glad we got to enjoy this special place….if even for an extended weekend.

It was indeed. And now, back in the city, I do enjoy sitting out on our deck in the early morning…but surrounded by city-scrapers just isn’t the same.
