Summer Ditty

Freckledee doobie
summer me toonie,
singin’ some sillies with you.

Suckin’ orange slurpees
racin’ thru sprinklers,
singin’ our goofy-do tunes.

Hopscotch my sidewalk
ten in pink chalk,
singin’ hippity hoppity, bippity bop.

Friendship and freckles
grow in the sun.
Besties forever
singin’ as one.

It’s Quadrille Monday at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. Mish is hosting and asks us to include the word “freckle” or any form of the word in our Quadrille (a poem of exactly 44 words, sans title). Photo from Pixabay.com

That’s a fun quadrille, Lill! I was still singing goofy-do tunes with a bestie up until a few years go – nothing better! She’ll be 67 on Thursday but I don’t see her much since she moved to France. It’s true, friendship and freckles grow in the sun.

So glad you enjoyed! I still remember lemonade stands, climbing apple trees, and sitting together in our swimsuits in huge metal laundry tubs with my childhood bestie, Junie.

We don’t have lemonade stands over here, but I’ve seen them in Peanuts and various TV programmes and films. I did climb trees though.

I felt like some fun was the way to go with this word!

That was my first thought too, and then I ended up down a rather dark rabbit hole.

The thought of freckles does remind me of “singin’ some sillies with you.”

Let’s hear it for lightheartedness; freckles demand it. I went with limerick-like stanzas.

This is a fun and delightful ditty of a poem Lillian. I can’t wait for my grandchild to grow up a bit so we can play.

Freckles and friendship…aww yes, this brings back many visuals! I like the way the word freckle made you skip and dance with your words, Lil. 🙂

That’s a wonderful perspective on freckle-ness Lillian. This made for a great read.
