Thank you. Such a complex issue….so many sides….so many stones left unturned by these few words.

Short and sharp Lillian. It all boils down to one’s perspective isn’t it?

It really is difficult to understand why some suffer horrendously, while the rest of us live in comfort and privilege.

Nicely penned — this perspective captures the idea in terms of certain inexplicable tendencies. Some of it definitely is fate but that can be used as an excuse not to bring about some changes in the status quo as well. I remember reading Min Jin Lee’s Pachinko in which a statement was repeated very often: “A woman’s lot is to suffer”. Is it fate that gender inequalities still exist? Along the same lines, the feudal system and many monarchies wouldn’t have been abolished otherwise if we didn’t look at the social realities.

Thanks for your perspective and participation, Lillian! 🙂

Of course fate can be used as an excuse….and this haiku does not look at all social realities.
This is simply a very few words, looking at an extremely complex issue, and seeing it from one angle or turn of a prism if you will.
No need to teach me about how changes come in the status quo or about gender inequalities or social realities.
