Having fun today 🙂  hosting Tuesday Poetics at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets. I’ve posted five examples of street art for folks and ask them to pick one and somehow write about it. Images in public domain at Pixabay.com. Only requirement is that folks post the accompanying image.  Click here for second street art poem with different image. I couldn’t resist doing two — the second has quite a different tone!

We’ll be visiting Valparaiso, Chile in January and look forward to seeing the street art there — which is what motivated this idea for a prompt.

Pub opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come walk the streets with us!

Always enjoy tending the bar 🙂 Graffiti street art can be so much fun! Looking forward to collecting some images in Valparaiso — may have to do a repeat of this prompt when I get back! 🙂

Yes — I’m thinking it will be absolutely energizing to see all the bright colors and the fantastical art. I’m told it’s quite wonderful and fun in Valparaiso! I’ll be collecting images on my camera — perhaps we’ll have to do a repeat on the prompt when I get back with some Valpo images! 🙂

I don’t usually do rhyme, as you know. But this image just set my toes tappin’ and my imagination moving in childlike ways 🙂 Glad you enjoyed!

Energetic and lookin’ for fun! Will be neat to walk the streets with dVerse folks and see what eveyrone comes up with! They are really varied images — and you’re right. Perhaps the image chosen will say something about the frame of mind of the writer — as it most likely did of the artist on that painting day! 🙂

Thanks, Frank. I will admit….I usually dislike writing in rhyme….but decided to have fun with this one…and then I started reading it aloud as I was editing it and somehow the Fred Flintsone family cartoon show came into my mind (I didn’t watch it but saw a few clips) and I think there was a zabba-dabba- something-or-other that Fred used to say…kind of like in the Honeymooners (Jackie Gleason) when he said, “….and away we go!” Ouf-dah….I’m giving away my age here with those examples 🙂

Wizardly!!! Brought back memories of Mary Poppins! Fun read. By the way, Valpariaso is where i experience my first earth quake.. All the Chileans ran outside, and so I ran outside too. . I was attending a conference with many of my Chilean work colleagues. You will love Chile! I sure did and do.

Oh my….no earthquakes for us, please! Any suggestions on places to eat? We have a tour with a local on our first full day — figure we’ll get acquainted with the city and then strike out on our own our next two days 🙂

I don’t remember any of the restaurants we visited but be sure to have the Chilean papaya with ice cream. Yummy!!! Also be sure to try the chirimoya fruit! Another Yummy fruit! I never had a bad meal in Chile! I understand that the pisco sour drink of Chile is wonderful. I don’t drink so can’t say much to this. Enjoy!

        Did you drink the water?

      • adda November 15, 2017 / 5:56 pm

No, I did not drink the water. I always had bottled water. I never wanted to take the risk. Once when I was in the outbacks in Brazil, we stopped at a farmers to chat and they offered me a cup of tea. Unfortunately I didn’t know the water hadn’t been boiled and I paid the price soon after. During all my stays and trips to central and south America, that was the one and only time I had an issue with water or food.

Ah…you confirmed what I was thinking. I was same in India, China, Thailand etc. No ice cubes; no salad; nothing raw. I always had canned Coke — many times warm.

Coke is all over in Chile so you won’t have any problem. I hope you take time to go into the Andes. They are awesome! Many places to hike. 🙂 I did a day hike in the Andes near a ski resort that was closed for the summer. I did another one at the base that hiked back to a waterfalls. There were many places on this hike that would not have passed safety standards in the US but it was a lot of fun because of it. Bridges made out of twine, corner ropes barely the strength of string. The waterfalls was awesome and we swam in the water at the bottom of the falls. Awesome!!!!

Fun poems, Lillian. Since I follow your blog, I found out about the dVerse prompt through this blog, but there was no link to dVerse in it, so I had trouble finding the Mr. Linky. Or, perhaps you put a link here and I just couldn’t find it. At any rate, thanks for sponsoring this week.

First, glad you enjoyed! 🙂 I thought it was a very fun image.
I always put a link to dVerse under the image, in the explanation. “Having fun today 🙂 hosting Tuesday Poetics at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets.” Under the actual photo, the word dVerse is a slightly different color, indicating the live link.
But — so glad you enjoyed this, follow my blog, and participate in dVerse. THANK YOU!
