Film Noir, Take 42

Breeze flickers,
leaves curl, skip, dance.
Spice jar spills open,
peppers dream.
Freed ghosts shimmer, twist, whisper.
Breathless sounds echo.
Clouds balloon, bubble, spark storm,
drizzle rose-red blood-shadows
scarring green spring grass.
Journeyman grins, giggles.
Fear dawns.
Bliss melts.
Hope dies.
Cue still lull.

De hosts dVerse today. We must include the word “hope” in a Quadrille: poem of exactly 44 words, sans title.  Quadrille Mondays occur every other week. Each quadrille series includes 44 Mondays: a different prompt each time. We need only include that week’s prompt in our poem. This post includes all 42 words given in the series thus far: hope, spice, freebliss, dreamfear, flicker, pepperdance, bubble, grin, lull, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath, scar, curl, whisper, dawn, ghost, giggle, drizzle, still, echo, sound, storm, spring, and balloon.  Bar opens at 3 PM Boston time.  Come join us!

Really nice flow and also kind of scary, along with the picture, a sense of no hope and that lastvlind “Cue still lull” holds you there.

Okay….I am blunderbussed by your comment here. Truly…I keep learning at dVerse and am so thankful for all of the tenders. Glad you enjoyed this one….the prompts just seem to fit the film noir category. Of course, that may change next week! 😦 Very hard not to have “connecters” and more honest verbs!

With each new word prompt, I keep trying to keep those rose-red blood-shadows….we’ll see if there is an Act 43!

I’m game. Good thing there’s poetic license with words! 🙂

Thanks, Vivian. The scene keeps shifting but I try to keep the sense there. If I can’t next time, this will be the final act of the series. We’ll see.

Glad you enjoyed it. Harder and harder to make those words cascade with sense!

Lill here….glad you enjoyed! Believe it or not, it’s as hard to find a different picture each time as it is to fit in the words! 🙂

This is stunning, Lillian…the way you incorporated all the quadrille words and yet nothing seems contrived. The contrasting scenes of joy and horror are expressed so vividly.

What a lovely comment to read this morning. Many thanks, Mish. We’ll see if I can keep the sense without using too much poetic license on the words for 43. If not, will bow out happy at 42.

Thank you. I keep thinking “this is the last act”….trying hard not to compromise the words and keep it making sense. We’ll see if there’s an Act 43. Glad you enjoyed.

This is my favourite Film Noir jigsaw masterpiece … yet. The scene is vivid; the poetics complete; the rhythm organised. I can’t believe it. You’re a genius, ma’am.

Blush….thank you, Colin! Well….we shall see if this is the last act. Trying to stay true to words, so to speak…and not take too much poetic license to fit them all in. It’s definitely a challenge. Glad you’re enjoying!
