Love that magic, but I guess I would see it as black magic if I had a passion for lawns.

oh yes…..those who have lawns are bedeviled by these little seed pod weeds that multiply like crazy! I much prefer to think of them as magic wands, rather than as weeds 🙂

Oh yes…we used to call them dandelion clocks when we were kids…you would tell the time by the number of blows it took to clear the head…blow…1 o’clock….blow….2 o’clock….blow……3 o’clock…..pure magic.

Dandelion clocks….a new one for me. Sad to think that those who have manicured lawns think of them as weeds 😦

Thank you, Kim. Sometimes I have a feeling that I’d like to do a short poem….not connected with taking “less time” to be creative as sometimes these can take the longest to write! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed.

Love your haiku brevity. Remember in the 60’s all the talk of Dandelion Wine. Wonder what it tasted like? Course I never smoked banana peelings either.

Dandelion is an old American wine and it tastes a little bitter but is most soothing on the tummy.

Aha! Do know it’s a very old form of wine. As I mentioned to Glenn, in Iowa they had rhubarb wine. Did not care for it either.

Ah Glenn….your comment has me smiling! Never heard of smoking banana peels but have heard of dandelion wine. When we lived in Iowa, a place called the Amana Colonies was nearby — famous for their woolen mills, farming, and rhubarb wine!

How wonderful and magic it is indeed! There is one, outside my door, and from this day forward I will always think of these as “a magic wand.”

I’ve always enjoyed seeing my young children, and now my grandchildren, screwing up their eyes tightly shut and concentrating on their wish, and then blowing out birthday candles and dandelion seed pods too! 🙂 Those are true puff wishers! 🙂

Exactly! 🙂 Would that we could all be puff wishers and have our dreams come true! Blowing birthday candles out, or blowing dandelion seed pods across the field…..so glad we don’t puff out the stars when we wish on them! 🙂

I always did, as a child, with my children, and now with my grandchildren. A delightful scenario….accompanies weaving dandelion crowns. Much nicer than seeing them as noxious weeds! 🙂

We used it to see how many times we would be married. Guess I fooled it because all the seeds flew off in the wind…and I fianally got married once. I love your haiku Lillian. It is indeed magic.

Never heard of that use with the dandelion! As I said to someone else, we’re all puff wishers with our birthday cake candles, and with dandelions. Good thing we don’t try to blow out the stars when we wish up them! 🙂

You are so right, Bev. We also used to weave dandelion crowns and our finger tips would turn yellow from them! Have also, in much later years, dyed yarn with dandelions —- they can be so much more than weeds 🙂

Glad you enjoyed. I think you can find them seasonally for free on folks’ lawns who are “free growers” rather than those who want a “manicured” lawn! Also, once a year you too can be a puff wisher with the candles on your birthday cake! 🙂

Oh yes…..and that’s what we call a birthday girl/boy too when they face those candles on their birthday cake and screw up their faces, eyes closed titghly while they configure their wish, and then puff with all their might to blow out the candles! 🙂 Puff wishers! ❤
