Blissful dream journey
turns nightmare.
Ghosts whisper, dance,
twist, shimmer.
Lightning sparks, sounds echo.
Storm drizzles, bubbles open.
Breath flickers,
fearful giggle jars grin.
Clouds balloon, curl.
Breeze skips through leaves.
Dawn spills, melts rose-red.
Peppered blood-shadows
scar green spring grass.
Cue still lull.
Bjorn hosts dVerse today. We must write a Quadrille (poem of exactly 44 words, sans title) using the word “bliss.” Quadrille Mondays occur every other week. We need only include the week’s one given word in our poem. Ultimately 44 Quadrille Weeks occur, thus 44 word prompts. Past words this series have included dream, fear, flicker, pepper, dance, bubble, grin, lull, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath, scar, curl, whisper, dawn, ghost, giggle, drizzle, still, echo, sound, storm, spring, and balloon. This post includes all 39 words given thus far. Bar opens at 3 PM Boston time. Come join us!

It gets harder the more words there are. I did all the words two or three times I think, and now just some of them; whichever ones fit best for the idea I might have in my head at the time.

Another amazing chapter in your use of all the words. When I saw that bliss was the word I thought “uh oh” but you duped me. Perfect.

Had to rearrange quite a bit for this Take. It may be the last one….

What a feat–making those words labor, manifest into dark chapters–very impressive. You had me at /fearful giggle jars grin/.

Thank you! I was late to the reading on other posts as we had our grandkids from Sunday through till last night (I had this scheduled to go) — so sadly, missed your post. I wish I could have read it. I tried today as I got to all the reading today….but it had already been taken down and I couldn’t link to your blog. So sorry to have missed it.

Lillian, this is the first “all the words” quadrille I’ve read that didn’t look like an “all the words” quadrille. Well done! Love the picture too.

Thank you, Sarah. It’s been a Film Noire for quite a few Takes….but this may be the last. Gets harder and harder to have them fit into the tale…and not just string along. Glad you enjoyed. And yes, I was really happy to find the photo for this one!

Mozart wrote dances, mostly minuets and German dances, but he also wrote 2 Quadrilles in F major and B-flat major, I love your Film Noir variations, Lillian! .

Now I will definitely have to look up Mozart’s Quadrilles! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed. These variations may be coming to an end….we shall see in two weeks!

Thank you, Paul. Really had to work with this…shift things around. Still eerie…but it may be the last Take on this series. We shall see.

I agree with Paul. Yours is the must-see, lethal stuff along the trail. With this momentum, you aren’t going to stop at mile 44, but well into the quadrille’s afterlife of 45 prompts and beyond.

Thanks for the confidence boosting assurances…..but it sure does get more and more difficult. We’ll see in two weeks if this was the final act.
