Dead Man’s Fare

lillian

Graveyard journey.
Ghosts whisper, twist, shimmer
curl through drizzly clouds.
Breeze dances, skips with leaves.

Dawn spills rose-red tincture,
blood-shadows scar green grass.

Shallow breath jars sickly grin.
Fear bubbles, melts
cues nervous giggley spark,
sound opens echoes.

Still lull gone.
Death laughs here.

Quadrille (44 words exactly, not including title) written for dVerse, using all 31 quadrille prompts given thus far: dance, bubble, grin, lull, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath, scar, curl, whisper, dawn, ghost, giggle, drizzle, still, echo, sound (we’ve had 31 weeks of quadrilles thus far, each one, using one of these words as a prompt).     Double bravo–what a perfect subject to fit in all though diverse words. If I ever use them all in one poem, it will not be a quadrille–I don’t know how you did it and did it so well.

      Thank you, Victoria. As I mentioned to Paul, I tried several times to do this…with previous words (therefore fewer words to fit in) and was so discouraged. So — I actually let out a YAY when I finished it, even with a fist pump in the air šŸ™‚ Ah dVerse…..I’ve learned so much from everyone!

      I humbly agree. I’d tried this many times….when the list of words was shorter. Each Quadrille Monday there is a one word prompt…until all 44 words are in the list. And then they start over again with the first word, second word prompt etc. This time it just clicked (with a lot of edits, counting, and rewriting).

      Thank you! Much counting, crossing out, editing, exasperation etc. Hurrah — I finally managed to fit in all the words and have the total as 44. 31 required words….I’ll take this accomplishment and run with it šŸ™‚
