Warrior, intrepid spirit
woman of heartfelt substance.
For two years
you wore a mantle of prayers,
held fast to hope and faith.
Rest now, dear friend,
your spirit on angel’s wings.
For surely your downright obstinacy
in the face of overwhelming odds
has earned you the right to soar.
My friend, Louise, lost her two year battle with ovarian cancer Sunday night. She fought so hard to live. She will be missed by so many.
So sorry for your loss Lillian, may her spirit soar on angel’s wings xxx

She fought so very hard and in the end, slipped peacefully away in her sleep at home. I’m so very thankful she was at home. It is indeed a terrible illness…thank you for your very kind words here. And I am so very sorry you lost your mother to this disease…it becomes debilitating to the body while the mind, the heart, the spirit fights on.

She was so fortunate to be at home. And what you said about the mind and heart fighting on is so true. Take care.

Thank you for your thoughts here, Katie. I hope your mother will recover. And yes, my dear friend had been hospitalized for a length of time. But she fought and fought and was able to get home for the last few weeks of her life. I’m so glad she was at home, among her cheerful needlework art on the walls, family photos on cupboards, and those who care, living there, going in and out. She slipped away in the night while sleeping. That is how her family explained it….Such a mighty warrior she was.

Oh Katie, I did not see this second reply until I’d already responded. I’m so so sorry to hear this news. Our mothers bring us into this world, and sometimes, we are privileged to be with them when they take their journey of leaving. My prayers are with you and your mother. Take care, my friend. Know there are people who care.
