Orchid Garden Wonder

Singaporean national treasure,
color profusion midst verdant green.

Spider orchid spins tendrils
from delicate parasol top.
Lemon veined apricot petals.
Two-toned purple-whites.
Violet spattered faces
with sweet white noses.
Beauties preen in mirrored path.

Come ye visitors, cross land and sea.
This orchid splendor shall mesmerize thee.

Photos taken yesterday at Singapore’s Botanical Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in their National Orchid Gardem section. Singapore is one of the leading orchid exporters in the world. On a personal note, asking my readers to bear with me. Using an iPad while traveling — not as adept at posting with it.

Love all the pictures. The very first one is a plant bulb that bloomed recently in my backyard!

I’ve never seen so many orchids – they are so beautiful, as is your poem, Lillian. I love those images: ‘Spider orchid spins tendrils’ and
    ‘Violet spattered faces
    with sweet white noses.
    Beauties preen in mirrored path.’
I can see you’re having a fantastic trip, collecting plenty of memories and being inspired. I look forward to the next post!

I’ve been there!! It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? And to think that those lovely flowers are parasites. Seems unimaginable. Enjoy your visit!

Glad you enjoyed! I was surprised to see you say they’re parasites. Googled that and found that is an “old wives tale” etc. Rather it is symbiosis. Interesting.

It was truly a beautiful place! We also hit a rhododendrum garden fully in bloom as well as roses in New Zealand. The colors were amazing! Mother Nature sure know how to decorate herself! 🙂

Me too! And Plumeria and Gardenias — those for their delicious scents! And Lilacs! I must be an aromatherapy kind of gal! 🙂

What great photos of all those wonderful varieties of orchids, Lillian. My daughter and I have many. A beautiful poem too and you seem to be doing well with your iPad! xo

Glad you enjoyed! And….so glad to be back with my laptop. iPad was okay on the trip…but very frustrating to post on blog with. Glad to be home and glad to be reading and writing again….although my body doesn’t know which present tense to be in yet….jet lag playing tricks on me.

Such amazing photos and post. I have tried my hand at orchids but with no luck. They are better off to survive in their natural habitat or at the very least have someone that understands them. 🙂
