Crimson, orange-yellow quilt overhead,
I gaze upward, savoring the soft breeze.
Iridescent patterns shimmer, shift, and spread
a kaleidoscope of fluttering leaves.
Our days together come drifting back,
blurring soft prisms of golden memories.
And I am content.
Written for dVerse where we’re asked today to employ rhyme within our poem.
Lovely!

Thank you, Glenn. Have been “unplugged” for a few days — shall get over to others’ posts on “leaves” now. Sometimes the mind has to rest. Glad you enjoyed this one!

Love the colors of autumn, including your picture. This line was really good:

Thanks, Grace. Have been unplugged for a few days and just getting back to my reading, posting, and replying. I am hopelessly behind and sadly shall not catch up with some of the past posts. But sometimes, the brain just needs to rest 🙂

Lovely! Nicely rhymed, and the last line breaking the pattern strengthens the statement.

Ah Rosemary — I struggle so with rhyming. I’m mainly a free verse kind of gal so truly appreciate your thoughtful comments here!

Methinks that easy rhyme comes naturally to you, Lillian. Nice flow to this.

Oh Victoria, how wrong you are….I really really struggle with rhyme. To get it so it’s not simplistic or sing-songy. I so admire folks who can rhyme and keep the “sense” of the poem uppermost in the reader’s mind and ear. Thank you for your very kind words — so very appreciated!
