Deal the cards,
jokers are wild and ante is high.
Life’s tough
with card sharks at every turn.
Bluffing is no longer an option.

I was always horrible at bluffing, cards close to the vest! Short and sweet, Lillian!

There are lots of jokers out there headed for Washington, and if you ask me, they’re all pretty wild. Thanks for the game

I feel there is much truth and wisdom between the lines.. bluffing certainly is no longer an option. Lovely contemplative write, Lillian ❤

There’s so much I can read into your wise, little poem, Lillian, but I won’t go there. I’m trying hard to stay positive and rise above all the Jokers and sharks out there.

Yeah, the poker face thing isn’t me. I try and I usually start laughing. Unfortunately, there are a lot of sharks and jokers out there who are very good at bluffing. Gotta keep focused!

I must say, I do like it when a person’s face is as they say, “an open book.” But — hard to tell sometimes.

Short and sharp Lillian. For the life of me, I am terrible in bluffing 🙂

I’m quite good at bluffing, but only ever in fun.

Not me…..I break out into giggles. These days in the political world, we do need to be vigilant, I think.

I find, Lillian, that I say the most when I use the least number of words or lines. You have proven that with this poem. Straight to the center of the onion – hooray!

Well, I’m only playing Uno with my grandkids these days —- I seem to always forget to say Uno when I’m down to one card 🙂

Sooo… I should probably lose that fifth ace. Your poem is a direct statement of how the poet’s voice perceives his or her life situation. Stand pat and see what happens. Fold — give up and give in. Or keep going forward like she is holding a royal flush. When among the sharks the safest thing to do is point out how tasty that shark over there looks!
